Sara Aimée Smiseth is from Haugerud in Oslo. She is a much sought-after soloist, is very active as a performer in Norway, and has also played concerts in Japan, the USA, Canada, Estonia, Germany, England, Finland and Sweden.

Sara holds a master’s degree in solo piano performance from the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, and a bachelor degree in Musicology from the University of Oslo. She has distinguished herself with her unique combination of vivid storytelling and virtuoso piano playing. Her narrative concerts give the audience a very special encounter with the music, and several of the performances have received mention in national Norwegian media and have been seen by thousands of people both at home and abroad.

In recent years, Sara has been a soloist in Grieg’s piano concerto in the European capital of culture 2024, Tartu in Estonia, she has released a solo album which received very good reviews, been invited to play recitals in numerous concert venues both at home and abroad, been Pianist in residence at Troldhaugen in Bergen and performed at various music festivals.

Sara is an important communicator of classical music, and is one of Norway’s foremost knowers of the composer and pianist Agathe Backer Grøndahl. She appears regularly on the radio, does musical outreach work for the Norwegian Opera & Ballet and the Oslo Philharmonic, and has led the audience through a number of large events as a performing concert presenter, including in the Oslo University Aula and on the Main Stage in the Oslo Opera House.
